Norvasc 5mg contains Amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). By relaxing and widening blood vessels, it allows blood to flow more easily, reduces pressure on the heart, and lowers the risk of serious cardiovascular complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney disease.
Norvasc 5mg is often used as an initial dose for adults and elderly patients, as well as for those requiring a lower-strength tablet compared to Norvasc 10mg.
