Inactivated Hepatitis A Vaccine
The inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine is used to provide active immunization against Hepatitis A virus infection, a contagious liver disease transmitted through contaminated food, water, or close contact with an infected person.
This vaccine contains an inactivated (killed) form of the virus, which cannot cause infection but stimulates the body’s immune system to produce protective antibodies. It is recommended for both children and adults at risk of exposure, including travelers to endemic regions, healthcare workers, food handlers, and people with chronic liver disease.
Administered as an intramuscular injection, the inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine usually requires two doses for long-term protection, given several months apart. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of infection, complications, and liver damage caused by the Hepatitis A virus.
