Casodex contains bicalutamide, a non-steroidal anti-androgen (androgen receptor inhibitor). It blocks testosterone from binding to prostate cancer cells, slowing their growth. Casodex is used in combination with an LHRH analog (such as goserelin or leuprolide) to treat metastatic (Stage D2) prostate cancer, helping control disease progression.
Dosage (Adults—Male only)
Standard dose: 50 mg once daily, with or without food, taken at the same time each day.
Always administered with an LHRH analog—start both treatments concurrently.
Higher doses (e.g., 150 mg) have been studied but are not approved due to increased risks.
