Description :
Jardiance contains Empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It lowers blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus by helping the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine. Beyond blood sugar control, Jardiance is also prescribed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and to treat chronic heart failure and chronic kidney disease in certain patients.
Dosage (Adults)
Starting dose: 10 mg once daily, taken in the morning with or without food.
Maintenance dose: May be increased to 25 mg once daily if needed.
Jardiance 15 mg: Although not a standard marketed strength in many regions (common ones are 10 mg & 25 mg), some brands may have 15 mg — usually taken once daily as directed by a doctor.
> Not for use in type 1 diabetes or for treating diabetic ketoacidosis.

Side Effects
Common:
Increased urination
Thirst, dry mouth
Urinary tract infections
Genital yeast infections (thrush)
Dizziness, low blood pressure (especially with diuretics)
Serious:
Ketoacidosis (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, trouble breathing)
Severe dehydration
Kidney problems
Fournier’s gangrene (rare but serious genital
Warnings & Precautions
Not recommended for patients with severe kidney disease or on dialysis.
Stay well-hydrated to reduce risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.
Inform your doctor if you are taking diuretics, insulin, or other diabetes medicines (risk of low blood sugar).
Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed.
