Abiraterone tablet
Description :
Abiraterone acetate is an oral hormonal therapy used in combination with prednisone or prednisolone for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC). It works by inhibiting CYP17 enzyme, which is involved in testosterone production, thereby reducing androgen levels that stimulate prostate cancer growth.

Dosage (Adults, Male only)
Standard dose: 1000 mg (four 250 mg tablets) taken once daily on an empty stomach.
Must be taken with prednisone/prednisolone 5 mg twice daily to reduce risk of side effects from excess mineralocorticoids.
Swallow tablets whole with water, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.

Common:
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Fluid retention (swelling of ankles/feet)
Low potassium levels (hypokalemia)
Hot flushes
Fatigue and joint pain
Serious:
Heart problems (irregular heartbeat, chest pain)
Liver toxicity (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine)
Adrenal insufficiency (weakness, dizziness)

Warnings & Precautions
Not for use in women or children.
Always taken with prednisone/prednisolone to reduce side effects.
Monitor blood pressure, liver function, and potassium levels regularly.
May interact with certain medicines (rifampicin, phenytoin, ketoconazole).
Should not be handled by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant.
Use effective contraception during and 3 months after treatment.
